Dr. Elena del Busto is an ABPN Board certified psychiatrist and Clinical Associate at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Psychiatry. She practices in the greater Philadelphia area specializing in Sleep Medicine, Addictions, and Forensic Psychiatry. In addition she is trained in the combined use of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology in the treatment of a variety of psychiatric disorders including, but not limited to depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders. Dr. del Busto believes in using evidence-based medicine and personalized treatment plans to optimize outcomes and improve her patients’ mental health.
Dr. del Busto earned her undergraduate training at Barnard College and obtained her medical degree from Drexel University in 2005. After her psychiatry residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Dr. del Busto completed a Sleep Medicine Fellowship from Thomas Jefferson University and a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. del Busto is triple-board certified in General Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Forensic Psychiatry; she is also board eligible in Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Elena del Busto is activity involved in the education of medical students as well as academic research and publications. She has presented her research at the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson Hospital, and other institutions throughout the Philadelphia area. In addition, she has authored multiple peer reviewed articles, book chapters, and has presented her research in conferences world-wide. She has received multiple awards in acknowledgment for her achievements in academic research and teaching.
